The Hopewell Recreation and Parks Department is devoted to improving the overall health and well-being of the community through a variety of recreational opportunities. The department offers hundreds of activities each year aimed at fostering healthy lifestyles, increasing community engagement, supporting continued learning, and facilitating social interaction. The Department also manages over 200 acres of parks, playgrounds and fields in addition to specialty sites like the Hopewell Community Center and Hopewell City Marina. STREAM RESTORATION WORK AT MATHIS PARK

You may have noticed increased construction activity at Mathis Park in recent weeks. The City's Stormwater Management Division is working to restore a tributary that feeds Cabin Creek. The project will re-shape the streambed, help control erosion, and prevent flooding and poor drainage at the park. Read more!

RIVERWALK PHASE II COMING IN 2021!

With a 6-1 vote of Hopewell City Council, the second phase of the Hopewell River is slated for construction in 2021!  This stage of the project will extend the walkway from City Park all the way to the Hopewell City Marina.  Read more!

Hopewell Call Center

Staff from Hopewell Recreation and Parks are manning the Hopewell Call Center to assist citizens with COVID-19 inquiries. Staff have the ability to assist Hopewell residents with registering for the COVID-19 vaccination, and are equipped to answer a variety of other questions.  The Call Center is staffed Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Please call (804) 541-2391 for further assistance.
