The Hopewell Recreation and Parks Department offers a variety of recreational opportunities designed to improve the overall health and well-being of the community. The department delivers more than 300 programs each year and serves thousands of residents and visitors from surrounding communities. The department manages over 200 acres of park space throughout the city and oversees the Hopewell Community Center, a 38,000-square-foot recreation center.

Director of Recreation & Parks

Administration is led by the director of Recreation and Parks and includes members of the department's executive management team. The director oversees a variety of complex tasks relative to daily operations as well as long-range strategic planning and policy development. The director manages the employee performance process to ensure that all staff is meeting benchmarks for success. The director prepares and presents reports to the City Manager and City Council regarding policies, fees, budget, and other announcements. The director serves as the ex-officio to the Recreation Advisory Commission and represents the department as a member of various boards, commissions, and committees.
